Andrew, thank you for your post and important work in the world. One consideration, which is non-western in orientation, is to consider how to emerging technologies have the potential to transform what it means to be a global community or, we (individual) humans as a 'collective'. This shift in perspective has profound implications for how we think about the ethical and moral and effective development and application of AGI and LLM's. President Crow has recently asked me to be a Sr. Advisory to him and ASU and I would welcome a chat sometime to get your thoughts on this and other topics. Thanks again for your thoughtful insights and many contributions. ~Leigh

Thanks Leigh, and yes!!! we're still developing our portfolio through the ASU Future of Being Human initiative (of which this Substack is an offshoot), but this is alrwady weighing heavily on my thinking. As part of this we have a series we're supporting this year that takes a distinctly non-Western perspective on futures -- https://futureofbeinghuman.asu.edu/2023/08/22/deep-pasts-to-deep-futures/ -- and I'm anticipating more in this vein.

And drop me an email -- I'd love to chat further!
