Chatting with WEF about ChatGPT in the classroom
A short video on generative AI in education from the World Economic Forum
In June, I recorded a short conversation on using ChatGPT and generative AI more broadly in the classroom with the World Economic Forum, while I was attending their annual meeting in China
That conversation has just been published on the WEF website. And as the content is highly pertinent to the use of text-based generative AI in education — especially as we start the new academic year — I thought I’d post the video here:
In the video I talk about the process we used to create an introductory course on using ChatGPT using ChatGPT, some of the things we learned from teaching the course, and why we ended up taking it off the books (not because it didn’t work — far from it — but because it rapidly became redundant).
Even though the course isn’t being taught any more, much of the content is still available here.
The video also ties in with the WEF report “Shaping the Future of Learning: The Role of AI in Education 4.0” which was published earlier this year, and is highly recommended reading.
